How to find us

Sussex Peggers Riding Club has members who travel from London, Hampshire, and of course the 4 corners of Sussex to train at Ditchling Common Stud (DCS).

DCS is located in sight of the South Downs, a short distance east of Burgess Hill and 8 miles north of Brighton. It is easy to get to by road and rail.

Please note sat nav directions to the stud have proved unreliable.

Take the M23/A23 heading south past Gatwick Airport in the direction of Brighton.

Come off at the Ansty exit onto the A272 (left at the roundabout). Follow this road to the end (a T-junction with the Ansty Cross pub opposite). Turn right onto the B2036.

At the end of the road, take the third exit at the first roundabout and the second exit at the second roundabout onto the A273 (London Road – signposted Burgess Hill).

Follow the road up the hill through two sets of traffic lights (one of which is a pedestrian crossing) and turn left at the roundabout (just past a pub on the left and a shop on the right) onto Leylands Road.

Follow the road to the end (under a railway bridge). At the roundabout take the first exit onto Valebridge Road. Then take the first right onto Janes Lane. Follow that road to the end and turn right onto the B2112 (be careful of some dangerous bends).

DCS is 150 meters, on the right, on the brow of the hill. Turn right down the private road signed 'Ditchling Common Stud' and 'Bed & Breakfast'. The car park is at the bottom of the hill.

Take the A23 heading north toward London.

Come off at the first exit north of Brighton onto the A273 (signposted Hassocks).

Take the second right hand turn onto the B2112 signposted Ditchling (the road bends left, with 2 right turns very close together).

Stay on this road, keeping straight at the mini roundabout in Ditchling village. After 400 meters you pass a Garden Centre on the right. Continue north and at the next roundabout take the second exit.

DCS is 300 meters, on the left, on the brow of the hill. Turn left down the private road signed ‘Ditchling Common Stud’ and 'Bed & Breakfast'. The car park is at the bottom of the hill.

The nearest train station is Burgess Hill, 2 miles from DCS. It's on the London to Brighton mainline with frequent services from London Victoria, London Bridge and Brighton.

A taxi from the station will cost approx. £5. Walking from the station takes around 35 minutes.
