A horse sport of speed and accuracy

Originally used to train cavalry soldiers. Now an exciting and growing equine sport. It involves riding at a gallop with a sword, lance or pricker to strike targets in the ground or suspended from gallows.

Sussex Peggers Riding Club offers tuition and competitions for novices, juniors and advanced riders.

The sport

Mounted skill at arms is an exciting and skillful sport. Like many equestrian disciplines, it has its roots in the military.

Disciplines are many and involve riding at the canter and gallop, on the flat and over jumps, with weapons such as sword, lance or pricker. Points are awarded for striking targets, speed and style.

The club

Looking to learn a new equestrian sport that will teach you new skills and improve your all-round horse riding?

We have members aged from 8 to 60+, from beginners to international competitors. We are welcoming and encouraging to riders wishing to get involved and try mounted skill at arms.
